Exponents
math/learn/exponents/
Well, it's hard to teach this so bear with me. Exponents are simply a shorthand way to write a number multiplied by itself a certain number of times. For example: 74 is a short way to write 7×7×7×7, or 7 multiplied by itself 4 times. The 4 is a power. You read 74 as "7 to the fourth power". In 74, the base is 7 and the exponent is 4. Is that clear enough? If not, complain, whine and do whatever and e-mail me.
